Philosophy.
I believe a life worth living embodies the alchemy between meaning, pleasure & time.
In keeping with our individual truths, the art of discernment is what allows us to bridge the ravine between our actual and imagined selves.
In modern economies, a perpetual sushi-train of options threatens well-being; every new possibility diluting the salience of the last. The human experience as we know it is developing into uncharted territory. As technology and globalization solve for distribution, our exquisitely unique, emotional, and cultural needs so often remain unfulfilled.
From where I stand, human values emerge from biology and story, they are in continual flux as is the environment around us. To that end, the equations that govern our lives are non-linear. This makes optimising increments of our resume or biology a woefully inadequate bid for vitality. Now more than ever: logic will break your heart.
Human wellbeing is no long governed primarily by external vectors, rather, much broader drivers of choice.
On this, there is no such thing as a small choice. In our complex evolving world, a single decision can redirect the course of a life.
Prevailing approaches to health succeed at returning people to existing trajectories(often of decline). The reality is that lifestyle drives outcomes. The engine room for new habits and a new future rests on the spiritual integrity with which we can make decisions.
Examined over the arc of time, humanity will self-extinguish or work out how to thrive in this new terrain. Considered through the lens of probability, how we decide affects the likelihood of one possibility over the other.
Our best returns come from investment into human empowerment.
This demands strategy and design that acknowledges the structural drivers of behaviour and thriving. The journey ahead is not a road-trip towards a cure. The challenges we meet today don't have defined solutions. Rather, we must face ever-changing predicaments.
Forward motion today demands transformation. Also the recognition of the distinct roles of technology, culture and policy in accelerating us towards lives of purpose. I choose to respond with holistic strategy practice MDMD.
